Some of those who suffer from migraines have convinced themselves they have to just deal with the pain. They realize when migraines attack, they have to take a few days off to recover and cope with the symptoms. In America each year, 11 million people are looking to alleviate the pain of migraines; one-quarter of the population has some sort of headache condition, including migraines.

It is very important to be informed about whatever health condition a person may be coping with, and the Internet has proven to be vital in this area. A lot of information and treatment options can be discovered. However, it can also have a downside.

A trend being seen is that patients are researching migraines and then going to their doctors asking for costly and potentially dangerous tests that are really not necessary. Statistics show that this trend is increasing as well as reports of people suffering with migraines. Therefore, traditional treatment methods are not aiding in finding effective treatment. A better way is to look to fix the underlying cause of migraines.

The Resolution of Migraines

At the Upper Cervical Center of Brandon, we often see our patients who suffer from migraines improve after they seek our care. We focus our attention on the atlas bone, which is the uppermost bone of the neck, also called the C1 vertebra. If this bone is misaligned, it may be the root cause of migraines. It is located where the brain stem and spinal cord connect. This means that a misalignment in the atlas may cause the body and brain to not communicate properly. It can also hinder blood and oxygen flow.

Once we examine our migraine patients and develop a treatment plan for each individual, we can begin to correct this misalignment. This causes the central nervous system to begin to function at its optimum potential. Our own experience, along with scientific research, has shown improvement in patients in as little as one or two adjustments.
